ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) Calibration
Has your car ever braked for you, warned you about a hazard, or helped keep you in lane – without you doing anything? That’s your vehicle’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) working in the background.
ADAS uses a combination of cameras and sensors to monitor the road and support safer driving. These systems can help reduce the risk of accidents by assisting with awareness, warnings, and (in some vehicles) automatic intervention.
Because ADAS relies on accurate positioning, correct alignment is essential. Even small changes to vehicle geometry or sensor position can affect how these systems “see” and interpret the road.
What ADAS can include
Depending on your vehicle, ADAS may include features such as:
- Automatic emergency braking
- Lane departure warning / lane keeping assistance
- Forward collision warning
- Adaptive cruise control
- Blind spot monitoring
- Traffic sign recognition
- Parking sensors and camera-based assistance
Why ADAS calibration matters
If cameras or sensors are out of alignment (even slightly), your driver assistance features may not perform as expected. In some cases, this can cause warning lights, inaccurate alerts, or systems that don’t respond when they should.
Calibration helps ensure the system is operating correctly and reading the road as it should, giving you confidence that your vehicle’s safety features are working as intended.
When calibration may be needed
ADAS calibration is commonly required after:
- Windscreen replacement (especially where a camera is mounted to the windscreen)
- Suspension or steering work
- Wheel alignment changes
- Accident damage repairs (even minor impacts can affect alignment or sensor position)
- Warning lights or fault codes related to driver assistance systems
If you’re unsure whether your vehicle needs calibration, we can advise based on the work carried out and the systems fitted.
